David R. Johnson, 65, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, surrounded by family and friends in his home following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 31, 1949, in Colby, the son of Raymond L. and Marlene Vandegriffe Johnson. He spent most of his life as an OTR truck driver.
He married Liz Mitchell on Sept. 2, 1988, in Brighton, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Liz, of Moundridge; mother, Marlene Johnson, of McDonald; son, Brent (Stephanie) Johnson, of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Deanna Johnson, of Aurora; son, Jeremy Johnson, of Moundridge; daughter, Megan Johnson (fiancé John Hill), of Ellsworth; sister, Dixie (Ted) Bethell, of McCook, Neb.; sister, Connie (Brian) Sabatka, of McDonald; six grandsons; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at Moundridge Funeral Home, Moundridge, and from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, at McDonald Federated Church in McDonald. Burial will follow in Grace Cemetery, rural McDonald.
