Darren was a sociable guy with a tender heart for people and animals. He enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. As a youth, Darren played baseball, basketball and football. He had a life-long interest in spectator sports and sports trivia.
Darren Gael Beougher was born on November 26, 1967 in Wheat Ridge and raised in Colorado. His family lived near Morrison until they settled in Lakewood in 1973. Darren attended Belmar Elementary School, Creighton Middle School, and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1986.
Darren joined the Navy on March 16, 1987 and served 6 years. His Basic training was in San Diego, California. He served on the USS Rathburne, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii from 1987 to 91, and on the USS Lake Champlain, in San Diego, California from 1991 to 1993. His training was Interior communications/electronics and he spent his career in telecommunications.
Darren liked the California climate and wanted to stay near his friends. After an honorable discharge from the Navy on March 16, 1993, he worked in San Diego for a while, before moving to San Clemente and, later, to Huntington Beach. Darren was married to Kristy Benton from 2001 to 2008.
On Oct. 26, 2016, Darren succumbed to a massive heart attack. He was preceded in death by a brother David Beougher in 1963, and by his grandparents Gael and Mary Beougher and Walter and Beulah Dohm.
Darren is survived by his parents Max and Delilah “Dee” Beougher, of Lakewood, Colorado, his brother Brad L. Beougher, of Aurora, Colorado, and his girlfriend Sara Sanchez, of Huntington Beach, California.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley, with inurnment to follow in the Grinnell Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Dee Beougher for a memorial bench, in memory of Darren, at Addenbrooke Park in Lakewood, CO.
