Darrell Witzel

Witzel July 26, 1936 - May 24, 2016 Darrell Jay Witzel, 79, of Colby, passed away at his home May 24, 2016.   The son of Fred and Ethel (Ellis) he was born July 26, 1936 in Burlington, Co. Darrell attend school  at a small country school, Plainview and Burlington High.  He was in the National Guard for several  years.   October 5, 1958 Darrell was united in Marriage to Viva C. Eslinger in Burlington. The couple divorced many years later.   In 1960 Darrell moved his family to Colby. He began working for the City of Colby in the sanitation department. He retired August 28, 2001 with over 38 years of service.   Proceeding him in death were his parents, twin sister Darlene, sisters Myrtle and Sally.   He is survived by daughter Debbie Huebner & husband Dennis of Hays KS, son Dennis of Grantville, KS.  Two brothers Wayne and Fred both of Burlington, CO. 4 Grandchildren Rick Huebner, Shelly Warren, Taylor Huebner & Tanner Huebner.  Special friend Jeannette Rust of Colby.
