Darlene Ann (McCarty) Vyzourek, 82, of McDonald, died Monday, July 23, 2018. She was born April 8, 1936, in the Kansas City, KS area to Edith (Moore) Ankle and Leon McCarty. She was raised by her mom and step dad, Stephen Ankle, whom she considered her dad.

Darlene moved to Northwest Kansas when she was a young child and lived in the Northwest Kansas area her whole life. She graduated from McDonald Rural High School in 1954 and married Kenneth E. Howard soon after. They later divorced. She later married Leonard L. Vyzourek.

She had four children, Tammy (Howard) Jenik (deceased), Todd Howard, Tia (Howard) Brannick, and Treg Vyzourek.

She enjoyed helping others and worked in the health care field for years. She later returned to school to become a cosmetologist and graduated in 1976. She worked as a cosmetologist in her own shop for many years.

She loved crafting and always made craft items for others. Family members were always treated with a homemade item at Christmas. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting and crocheting. Her biggest love was her family. She enjoyed having them around, and no one ever went home hungry. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. They were all spoiled by her.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Tammy Jenik and brother Wayne McCarty.

She is survived by her sons, Todd Howard, of Atwood, KS and Treg (Cameron) Vyzourek, of Superior, NE; daughter, Tia (Michael) Brannick, of Goodland, KS; grandchildren, Gabriel and Benjamin Vyzourek, Milan and Cienna Brannick, Rebecca Lagler (Mark), Cody Beeson (Alicia), Justin Jenik (Naomi) and Megan Lampe (Dick); nine great-grandchildren; sister Roberta McCarty, of Colorado and brothers, Ted McCarty, of Colorado and Richard (Ramona) McCarty, of California.

Cremation was chosen and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the memorial of the donor choice and can be sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701. For condolences or information visit www.baalmannmortuary.com
