Cynthia Kathryn Trenkle, 72, of Colby, died Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby. She was born May 30, 1951, in Atwood, KS, to William and Clara (Gilbert) Wancura. Cindy graduated from Atwood High School with the class of 1969.
In the summer of 1966, Cindy met the love of her life, Clyde “Kevan” Trenkle, while he was traveling through Atwood on a harvest crew. They were married on September 12, 1968, and to this union two children were born, Bryan and Tammy. When the kids were young Cindy enjoyed helping out at their schools.
In the mid 1970’s the family moved to Lincoln, NE for Kevan’s job. His career later took them Scottsbluff, NE, Chamberlain, SD and eventually to Colby, where they retired.
Cindy enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos and collecting eagles, owls and angels. In her free time Cindy enjoyed doing crafts, making holiday wreaths, cross stitch and making candies and cookies. However, her greatest gift was making everyone around her feel loved.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kevan; brother Stanley Wancura and brother-in-law Marvin Cloe.
She is survived by her son Bryan Trenkle; daughter Tammy Allen (Scott Butts); siblings, Gertie (Ted) Kastens, Charlene (Jack) Shelton and Jan (Gary) Kempt; sister-in-law Verda Wancura; grandchildren, Lauren, Bryson, Kennady, Kevan and Karsyn Trenkle, Kelly (Otto) Qualm, Kylee (Brandyn) Van Eaton and Bryant Allen and great grandchildren, Augustus, Leena and Magnus Qualm and Kezdyn Van Eaton.
The family will celebrate her life and receive friends from 3-6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Gathering Place, Colby.
