Craig Nickel

Craig Allan Nickel, 60, of Atwood, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Atwood. He was born January 2, 1955 in Perryton, TX. He grew up in Scott City, KS and moved to Atwood in the 1960’s. He went to Garden City Community College on a football scholarship. Through grade school and middle school he participated in Little Britches Rodeos doing bare back riding and bull riding. This inspired his nephews to do bull riding. Craig loved riding and breaking horses, including his favorites Diamond, Jake and Shotgun. He liked reading and watching westerns, particularly Louis L'amour and Zane Grey’s books and John Wayne movies.

He was preceded in death by his mother Thelma Nickel; his Grandparents and many Aunts and Uncles.

He is survived by his children, daughter Samantha Jo and husband Jesse Mader and Jeffrey Craig Nickel; grandchildren, Jett, Hunter and Baby Mader; sister, Nikki and husband Bill Finley; step children, David McKain and Austin Sramek and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October, 17, 2015 at the First Christian Church, Atwood.
