Collin James Gormley, 31, of Colby, died Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born June 19, 1992, in Hays, KS, to Jim Gormley and Mary (Cooksey) Gormley. Collin was a 2010 graduate of Wheatland High School and studied sports medicine at Fort Hays State University before returning to the family farm. Collin had a passion for farming and ranching. He had worked at Gormley Farms and Gassman Feedlot where he enjoyed working with cattle, spreading manure, and harvesting crops. He enjoyed being outdoors riding his bike & fishing. He was very musically inclined, as he taught himself how to play the piano. He loved to sing, liked all types of music, and had a great eye for photography and art. Within the last couple of years, he picked up enjoying to read. Collin loved animals, especially his dogs. He also loved his sneakers and had a major sweet tooth. Collin always loved to play and spend time with his nephew and niece, Gavin and Lydia. He always had a kind heart. Loved his family and friends.
Collin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Edna Cooksey and Jerry Gormley; uncles, Kenny and Jim Cooksey and cousin Matthew Cooksey.
He is survived by his mother Mary Gormley (Paul Bange); father Jim Gormley; sister Casey (Anthony) Franssen; nephew and niece, Gavin and Lydia Franssen; grandmother Jeanie Gormley and aunts and uncles, Steve (Melissa) Gormley, Shari (Don) Burks, Lela Cooksey, Karen (Tom) Scott, Randy (Peggy) Cooksey, John (Sharon) Cooksey, Cheri (Daryl) Remington, Richard (Stephany) Cooksey and Leann (Brent) Evans
Collin was surrounded by many cousins, family and friends.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m., with a vigil at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral Mass is at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park, with burial in the church cemetery.
