Clyde “Kevan” Trenkle, 77, of Colby, died Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Citizens Medical Center, Colby. He was born on March 31, 1946, in Alliance, NE, to Clyde Clayton Trenkle and Mary Elizabeth (Merritt) Trenkle. He had one younger brother, Cecil Clayton. The family moved from the Alliance area to Rushville, NE, where Kevan graduated from Rushville High in 1964.
In the summer of 1966, while on a harvest crew, Kevan met the love of his life, Cynthia Kathryn Wancura. They were married in September of 1968. To this union two children were born, Bryan and Tammy. Kevan served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972.
Upon his return from the Navy, he began working for the State of Nebraska Department of Public Institutions, in Lincoln, NE as the Chief Financial Officer. He then served as the CFO of Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE, at Sanford Chamberlain Medical Center, in Chamberlain, SD and eventually became CEO at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby, KS. Where he worked until his retirement in 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Gunnar Riiss and in-laws, Willie and Clara Wancura.
Kevan is survived by his wife Cynthia; son Bryan Trenkle; daughter Tammy Allen (Scott Butts); brother Cecil “Spud” (Mary) Trenkle; grandchildren, Lauren, Bryson, Kennady, Kevan and Karsyn Trenkle, Kelly (Otto) Qualm, Kylee (Brandyn) Van Eaton and Bryant Allen; great grandchildren, Augustus, Leena and Magnus Qualm and Kezdyn Van Eaton.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, with burial in Beulah Cemetery, Colby.
