Clifford Jerome Stramel, 72, of Oakley, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Quinter Long Term Care Center. He was born July 20, 1940 to Rudy and Matilda (Wessel) Stramel Northeast of Seguin in Sheridan County, KS. The family moved to Wakeeney, KS in the mid 1940’s where Cliff attended the local school. In 1957 he volunteered for the draft into United States Army, spending time in Missouri, Virginia, California and 13 months in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1959 and reenlisted in the reserves from 1960 – 1963. He married Wanda Eichman on Dec 17, 1960 and had two children, Rick and Renee. Wanda passed away on May 20, 2003. Cliff spent his life as a truck driver, beginning in Quinter driving for Blackwill and Sons. In the mid 1960’s he moved the family to Oakley where he continued his career.
He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Wanda; two brothers, Bill and James Stramel; a nephew, Scott Stramel.
He is survived by a son, Rick (Bonnie) Stramel; three grandchildren, Justin, Jamie and Jarred all of Oakley; a brother, John (Linda) Stramel, of Quinter and a sister, Mary (Delbert) Steffen, of Cimarron; a sister in-law, Barbara Stramel-Burwell, of Nebraska and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Visitation will be 4-7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral service will be 10:00 am on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley.
