Claude Woerpel

Claude D. Woerpel of Colby passed Wednesday October 8th due to complications associated with cancer and COPD. Claude was born March 8th, 1935 and was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth L. (Betty) Woerpel, a brother Wayne Woerpel and his parents August (Dutch) and Nettie Woerpel. Claude graduated from Gem High School, worked for K&N Gas Co. for many years and later owned his own heating and air-conditioning company, Air Comfort Supply. He loved NASCAR, classic country and blue grass music, dancing, watching Colby High School sports and of course solving world problems with the “Boys of the Round Table” at the Village Inn. Claude was grateful for 37 years of sobriety and would humble many by the Random Acts of Kindness he was able to pass on to others. Claude is especially proud of his grandchildren and loved to tease and be silly with them and always enjoyed their notes, conversations and text messages. Claude is survived by his two sons Todd (Jeryleen) Woerpel of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Troy (Julie) Woerpel of Overland Park Ks, his sisters Jean Johnson of Overland Park, Leta Moses of Colby, Lela “Putt” Musil of Aurora Colorado and four grandchildren Tatum, Jessie, Eli and Greyson. Visitation will be from 2am-8pm Friday October 10th at Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel in Colby and a funeral service 10:00 am Saturday October 11th at the same location. In lieu of flowers Claude asks for his friends to do a random act of kindness for a stranger.
