Cheryl Pearce

Cheryl Jean Pearce, 75, of Atwood, left this world peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, in Ulysses, KS. She was born August 27, 1949, in Atwood, to Ralph “Bub” and Mildred (Flood) Arendt.

Cheryl attended school in Atwood, graduating in 1967. She enjoyed participating in the high school marching band and had the honor of marching in the presidential parade and sang on the hay loft frolics. Cheryl was a wonderful musician and could play anything by ear. She enjoyed playing many instruments including the sax, piano, accordion and others. She loved to sing and sang for many town events, including weddings and funerals. She had a beautiful voice! Cheryl was also an avid horse lover. She grew up loving animals having many, actually lots, of them throughout her life.

On February 19, 1969, Cheryl was united in marriage to Claude “Buck” Pearce and they raised five children. She was an incredible wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed attending any and all sporting events she could to show her support for her family and friends. If you were a friend, it was lifelong. Cheryl was a tremendous source of strength to all who knew her and paved an unwavering path of determination for anyone that needed it. She raised many kids that needed her and always had an open door for anyone or anything. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, sister Naida Ginther and husband Claude Pearce.

She is survived by her children, Buddy Pearce (Toni), of Copperas Cove, TX, Karen Johnson, Monticello, UT, Angee Pearce (Bengy), of Oberlin, KS, Chinle Nelson (Dallas), of Ulysses, KS and Tonalea Downing (Jeremy), McDonald, KS; sister Joan Pickett, Denton, TX; and many grandkids, great grandkids, great-great grandkids, nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the First Christian Church, Atwood, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.
