Catherine Celeste Bliss-Johnson of Ellis, succumbed to a two decade struggle with lupus at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita on March 7th. Catherine Celeste Bliss was born in Topeka on August 16th, 1969. She graduated from Atwood High, 1988; varsity athlete, cheerleader, singer, musician. She attended Colby Community College; student council president, band member, runner, cheerleader. Graduated with music degree. She married Kip "Loy" Johnson. They attended Kansas State University and she earned a music education degree. After KSU, they moved to Topeka. Celeste juggled three managerial jobs as Kip earned his law degree. They settled in Ellis to raise their family. Celeste was a fierce advocate for her daughters and the town. Among her many gifts to the community, she helped start the local thrift shop, volunteered/coached/taught at Ellis schools, wrote grants to spearhead the completion of parks, and volunteered with at-risk teenage moms. Celeste is survived by her daughters Ashton and Aiden Johnson, her siblings Breon Bliss, Maureen Sharp, Alec Bliss, her grandmother Helen Neill, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a slew of friends.
