Catherine Luella Black, 86, of Colby, KS, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby, KS, after a brief illness. Luella was born in rural Sherman County on April 18, 1934 to Walter Theodore and Margaret Catherine (Nolan) Hundertmark. She lived on the family farm until moving to Goodland after graduation. There she lived with her sister Belle Caroline and her husband Lewis Nowak. Luella worked as a waitress at Evan’s Café, until she met and married Billy Black. After getting married they moved to Rosamond, California. There she worked for the Southern Kern School District as a custodian until she retired in 1996. Luella liked to travel and went to Germany and also on a cruise to Alaska. She enjoyed sewing and made a lot of her own clothes, as well as clothes for her sisters.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Belle Caroline Nowak and Alta Evans and brother Harry Hundertmark.
She is survived by her brothers Walter Hundertmark, of Scott City and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Colby, KS, with burial in the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS. For information or condolences visit www.baalmannmortuary.com
