Kistler July 31, 1949 - April 15, 2015 Calvin Dean Kistler July 31, 1949 – April 15, 2015 Calvin Dean Kistler was born at St. Thomas Hospital, in Colby, Kansas on July 31, 1949 to Leora (Wade) and Roy Junior Kistler. He died on April 15, 2015 at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up on the family farm South of Colby and attended school at Monument through 11th grade. Calvin graduated from Oakley High School in 1967. After completing two years at Colby Community College he served his country as a member of the United States National Guard. Calvin married Susan Hamill on October 23, 1971. Two children were born to this union, Jennifer and Timothy. His greatest love and joy was his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Farming and pheasant hunting were also activities that brought him great pleasure in life. Parents, Roy and Leora, preceded him in death. He is survived by wife, Susan, and children Jennifer and James Vap Jr., and Timothy and Jessica Kistler; his brother, Hal and Judy Kistler; grandchildren Morgan Vap, Alexander Vap, Zachary Kistler, and Joshua Kistler. He is also survived by uncles Donald and Dorothy Kistler, and Ernest and Anita Kistler, as well as many beloved cousins, brothers and sisters in-law, nephews, nieces and many dear friends. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 25, at Sacred Heart Church in Colby, Kansas, with Father Dana Clark officiating. Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
