Buell Briney, 91, of Brewster, died Friday, Jan 15, 2016 at Prairie Senior Living Center, Colby. He was born Aug 30, 1924 to Bernard and Lula (Minor) Briney in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Colby High School in 1942 and served in the United States Army from Oct 1944 to Aug 1946 during World War II in the Philippines, Luzon, and Japan. He also was stationed in the General Headquarters in Tokyo with General MacArthur. Buell married Ruth Marshall on July 26, 1948 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher in Thomas and Rawlins County on the Bar LB Ranch North of Brewster. He was a member of the Masons for sixty years, life member of the Colby V.F.W. and the Goodland and Atwood American Legions. He and Ruth loved to travel in retirement, spending many winters in Pioneer Village RV Park in Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; son, Mark Briney and daughter in-law, Rosemary Briney.
He is survived by three children, Chad Briney, of Brewster, Lesa (Fred) Juenemann, of Brewster and Todd (Sandy) Briney, of Glenn Dale, AZ; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-7:00pm CST on Wednesday, Jan 20, 2016 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral service will be 11:00am CST on Thursday, Jan 21, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Brewster with burial at 2:30pm CST in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.
