Bonnie Rose Smith, 75, of Atwood, KS, passed away October 5, 2022, 3:00 p.m. at Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, KS, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born May 22, 1947, in Holyoke, CO to Clifford Raymond and Maxine Mickey (Thatcher) Smith. Her school years were spent in Holyoke, CO. She graduated from Holyoke High School in 1965. She began her career at the age of 19, in Denver, CO at Target stores and was quickly promoted to a manager and then buyer. She lived in many cities throughout the United States and travelled the world as a regional sales manager for Value Merchants. During her career Bonnie gave birth to her son, Brady, in May of 1983, who was her pride and joy. She then settled in Saint Francis, KS to be close to family and raise her son. While living in Saint Francis, she worked alongside her brother, Bill, at Cheyenne Bowl. In 1998, Bonnie and Brady moved to Atwood, KS, where she purchased Atwood Bowl. Later she went on to proudly manage the Atwood Country Club, where she fostered many memories and lifetime friendships. In the last few years of her life, she joined the Vap Construction team, where she brought joy to the office every day.
In her free time, Bonnie cherished time with family, most of all her grandchildren. One of her favorite past-times was playing games at family gatherings. She also enjoyed playing and hosting Bridge, where she formed very close friendships. This grew to be an important highlight of her weekly routine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mickey Smith.
She is survived by her only child, Brady Smith (Bailey); grandchildren, Dylan, Tristen, and Ariann, of Atwood, KS; brothers, Bill Smith and Rick Smith (Gail), of Atwood, KS; sisters, Lenee Seeker, of Rocklin, CA and Barbie Gopperton, of Mesa, AZ; nieces, and nephews, Dax Groves (Kristen), Megan Joerg (Greg), Leslie Smith (Tyrel), Jennifer Leitner (Tyler), Lyndsi Colgan, Ali Smith, and Cameron Colgan; great nieces and nephews, Camden Aldrich, Kinsley Goodvin, Payton Smith, Haisley Leitner, Ronan Groves, Reid Groves, Tucker Prideaux, and Toby Prideaux. She is also survived by many friends she considered family.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., October 9th, 2022, at United Methodist Church, Atwood, KS. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial services will be held October 10th, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. (CST), 2:00 p.m. (MST) in Holyoke, CO at Holyoke Memorial Park.
