Bill Keck

Bill Keck, 88, of Colby died December 5, 2012 in Hays, KS. He was born February 23, 1924 to Teed and Iva (Elbidge) Keck in Enid, OK. Bill served in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He married Billie Jean Railing on November 28, 1948 in Dodge City, KS. Bill was a long time businessman in Colby owning the Gamble True Value Hardware store from 1971-1994. He served as a Colby City Councilman, Colby Chamber of Commerce President, and a Rotary member. He was a member of the Colby United Methodist Church, and was just an all around good guy.

His parents, several siblings, and a son Mike precede Bill in death.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean; two sons Alan (Linda), Emporia, KS and David (Terri), Colby, KS; five grandchildren, Kari, Casey (Jessica), Colter, Kaylee Keck, and Stacy (Daniel) Gonzalez; one great grandson, Aidan; daughter in law Betty Keck, Salina, KS; sister in law Melva Deane Turley, Dodge City, KS; brother in law Larry (Carrol) Railing, Pollock Pines, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Colby United Methodist Church. Private burial will follow at a later date. Memorials can be made to the church in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby KS 67701. Condolences: baalmannmortuary.com
