Betsy A Holste, 65, of Ludell, Kansas, died June 13, 2018 at her home in Union Township. She was born August 21, 1952, in Atwood, KS, to Harry E. Wigner, Sr. and Margery E. (Lewis) Wigner. Betsy grew up on the family farm east of Atwood, KS, and attended school in Atwood where she was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1970. Her college career consisted of 2 years at KU and 2 years at KSU, graduating with a degree in secondary education with an emphasis in History. On August 17, 1974 she married Roger P. Holste. Together the couple worked side by side raising crops and cattle.
Betsy was a woman of many talents. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Her creative and artistic side was expressed by the many ornaments she created for the ornament exchange group, decorations and pictures for her home, and gifts she made for friends and family. She also had a very kind heart for all living things, and looked to rescue stray, rejected and injured birds and animals of all stripes. Some of her other interests were Home Extension club, Craft club, Rawlins County Historical Society and PEO. Election Board benefitted from her many years of service. When meeting new people, Betsy was always interested in their family connections, and could remember those connections as well as those of her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry E. and Margery E. (Lewis) Wigner.
Betsy is survived by her husband, Roger P. Holste, brother, Harry E. Wigner, Jr. (Beth Anne), nephews, John Wigner, Jonathan Kuerschner, Jeffrey Kuerschner and Alex Holste, nieces, Sarah(Joshua) Elias, Jenienne Gabathuler and Libby Bode, grand nephews, Ezra Elias, J.J. and Joseph Kuerschner, Lucas and Louis Gabathuler, and Rhys and Rhett Bode, cousins, H. David Wigner, James Mitchell, and many other Lewis and Samson cousins.
Visitation will be 4 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018, at United Methodist Church, Atwood, with a burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ludell, KS.
