Bethel Goltl, age 88, passed away on September 11, 2022, in McDonald, Kansas.

Bethel Louise was born on the farm in Goodland, KS to Edwin and Catherine Ochsner on June 3, 1934. She attended country schools and graduated from Goodland High. Bethel attended Midland Lutheran College, and then nursing training at Trinity Lutheran Hospital, Kansas City. After graduation, RN licensure and saving money, Bethel and a good friend took a 5-month round-the-world trip to Europe, Africa, and Asia.

While working as a nurse at the Goodland Hospital, she met Lavern Goltl through Luther League. They married on June 10, 1961 and settled on the Goltl family farm in McDonald. Bethel was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, ELCA Women, quilting and Bible study groups.

In addition to gardening and farm chores, Bethel guided her children through 4-H projects, was gifted at planning illustrated /demonstration talks, and was a dedicated group leader for sewing, cooking, baking and crafts. She helped sew several of the square-dancing outfits for 4-H.

Bethel hosted many family gatherings and holiday meals and was a favorite aunt of many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bethel was preceded in death by her parents; sister Barbara Rieb; husband Lavern; traveling companion and significant other, Don Bruder; sisters-in law, Helen, Irene, Edith, Esther and several nieces and nephews.

Bethel is survived by children Matt Goltl, of Wichita, KS, David Goltl, of New York City, NY, Alan Goltl, of Wichita, Amy Waters and Mike, of Cimarron, KS; grandchildren Ellen McCloskey and Andrew, Owen Waters, Brynn Waters, Jack Goltl, Sophie Goltl and Brayan Mendoza.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 22 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bird City.
