Bernard Anthony Muehlenkamp, 91, of Oakley, died Monday, June 24, 2019. He was born April 15, 1928, in Sheridan County, KS, to Ben and Katherina (Mense) Muehlenkamp. Bernard served in the United States Army, during the Korean War, from 1950-1952. After his service he drove truck for the Grinnell COOP, before moving to Denver to drive a Freight Truck. He married Sandra Speckman on January 19, 1958, in Denver. In 1961, they moved to Angelus, KS and started a terracing company. Bernard started farming in 1972, when they bought a farm in Oberlin, KS. They moved back to Oakley in 1982, where he drove truck for the COOP until he retired. Bernard was a member of the Grinnell V.F.W., the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sandra; daughter Dawn Weitzeil; sisters, Rosena Hemmert, Marceline Muehlenkamp, Frances Muehlenkamp and Bernadine Ladenburger; brothers Leo and Fred Muehlenkamp and son-in-law Troy Fox.
He is survived by his children, Bernadette (Brett) Novotny, Theresa Fox, Robert Pritchard and James (Beverly) Muehlenkamp; brother Lawrence (Margaret) Muehlenkamp; sisters, Mary Gibson, Agnes Krause, Marjorie (Dar) Brown and Verna Wright; eleven grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley; with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley.
