Beckie Nadine Kvasnicka (Jernigan), 95, of Oakley, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at the Logan County Hospital. She was born on July 7, 1924, in Admire, KS to Reese A. and Flora (Haller) Jernigan. Nadine graduated from Admire High school in Topeka, KS in 1943. After graduation she worked at Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator. On June 8, 1946, Nadine married Ross W. Kvasnicka in Topeka, KS. Ross and Nadine finally made western Kansas their home in the early 60’s at that time Nadine became a farmwife. She later moved to Oakley where she spent many years working at Triple T Café as a great cook, as a caretaker, and worked at the Fick Fossil Museum until she was 91 years old.
Nadine is survived by her children, Richard Kvasnicka and wife, Dianne of Winona, KS, Dixie Baalman, and Karen Hurtt and husband, Joady of Colby, KS. She also has six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ross, brothers Robert “Bob” Jernigan, Floyd “Chig” Jernigan, William “Max” Jernigan, and sister Delores Sorrells.
A private graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Oakley Cemetery in Oakley, Kansas.
