Ardis Jones

A. Gene Jones, 83, of Colby, died Feb 6, 2012. He was born April 20, 1928 to Alfred and Olga (Barnes) Jones in rural Jewell County, KS. He was in the U.S. Army service in WWII and Korea. He married Frieda Heid on Aug 26, 1960 in Bismarck ND. He was a brick layer, home builder and did prison ministry. Gene was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the Assembly of God Church, all of Colby.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Vance Smith; a brother Elton Jones and a half-brother R.C. Dugger.
He is survived by his wife Frieda; a son Shane (Amy) Jones, Lecompton, KS; two daughters, Peggy (Al)Smith, of Colby and Pam (Al-Butch) Jones, of Park City, KS; a brother Armun (Rita) Jones, of Colby at PSLC; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb 9, 2012 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb 10, 2012 at the Assembly of God Church, Colby. Burial will follow in Beulah Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to College Drive Assembly Youth Group in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
