Antoinette Frances (Vap) Mazour, 90, died on December 11, 2013 at Holmes Lake Manor nursing home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Antoinette was born in Atwood, Kansas on September 30, 19223 to Frank and Julia (Chleborad) Vap. She was named after her grandmother Antoinette (Janousek) Vap who was a participant in the last Indian raid occurring in the State of Kansas. She attended Notre Dame Academy in Omaha, Nebraska and Atwood high school in Atwood, Kansas before leaving school to help on the family farm. Antoinette married George F. Mazour in Chelan, Washington on September 22, 1948. They lived in Portland, Oregon and Deweese, Nebraska for several years before moving to a farm located in Rawlins County, Kansas in 1951. Antoinette and George farmed for 13 years and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1964. She worked as a homemaker, and later as a food server for King’s Food Host and Bishop’s Cafeteria. Antoinette enjoyed her Czech heritage, and was a member of the Lincoln Czech Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son Gary Mazour.
She is survived by her husband George; sons, James ( Marsha) Mazour, Wes Des Moines, Iowa, Donald (Uma) Mazour, Lincoln, Nebraska and David (Paula) Mazour, Vermillion, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Jessica Mazour, Des Moines, Iowa and Jennah Mazour, Potomac, Maryland and sister, Anne Marie (Dennis) Worley, Atwood, Kansas.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 1-6:00 p.m. at Wadlow Rozanek Funeral Home, 5200 R Street, Lincoln, NE. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Baalmann Mortuary, 109 N 2nd St, Atwood, with burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Decatur County, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
