Agnes Mckenney

September 20, 1914 — August 3, 2013

Agnes Mae McKenney, 98, of Colby, died Saturday, August 3, 2013. She was born September 20, 1914 in La Crosse, KS to Edward Lincoln and Lucy Kramer Mendenhall. She married Harold C. Wilson on July 15, 1933 in Larned, KS. To this union three children were born; Donald Ray, Dale Howard and Joyce Ann. After Harold’s death in 1961, Agnes moved to Colby. She married Joe McKenney on November 5, 1964. She worked at Frederick’s Pharmacy, later Palace Drug, until her retirement in 1981. She enjoyed her job which included working at the soda fountain and clerking in the store. After Joe’s death she moved to Meadowlark Manor and lived there until May 1, 2008 when she moved to Prairie Senior Living Complex. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo at the center at Meadowlark Manor. She also enjoyed doing needlework, crossword puzzles and reading as long as her sight permitted.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold & Joe; sons, Donald and Dale; two sisters and five brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Nollette, Monument, KS; Daughter-in-law’s, Marge Wilson (Donald), Newton, KS, Joyce Wilson (Dale), Colby, KS; 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-6:30pm on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Service will be 10:00am Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Burial will follow in Nekoma Cemetery, Nekoma, KS. Memorials for Prairie Senior Living Complex can be sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
