Rosemary Elizabeth (Simminger) Weishapl, 81, of Atwood, passed away on Christmas Day, 2017, her favorite day of the year, surrounded by those she loved. Born on March 8, 1936, to Francis and Doretta (Beims) Simminger, she was the last child to be born on the Simminger homestead north of Ludell, KS, where she grew up. She attended Ludell School and graduated from Rawlins County Community High School in 1954. Rosemary was united in marriage to Linus Weishapl on December 27, 1955. Their children meant the world to her. She was a very creative and compassionate person, owning Atwood Floral and working at Prairie Developmental Center for over twenty years. Rosemary was very loving and spent a great deal of her life caring for relatives and those in need. She delighted in giving anonymous gifts and family gatherings and friends brought her great joy. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Alter Society, Atwood Music and Drama Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and always looked forward to her outings with the Red Hats. She had a magnificent sense of humor and was always ready to try new things with a true zest for life.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Linus Weishapl; brothers, Robert and Jean Pierre and wife Rita; infant daughter Margaret and son William Weishapl.

She is survived by her children, Michael Weishapl, Susan (Kirk) Easterday and Nancy (James) Kanak, all of Atwood, KS; grandchildren, Anastasia Easterday (Brandon Barnhart), of Atwood, Lucas (laura) Easterday, of Salina, KS, Frank (Laura) Easterday, of Atwood, KS, Alexis Weishapl, of Topeka, KS, Rex (Emily) Weishapl, of Bird City, KS and Jamison Kanak, of Norcatur, KS (girlfriend Gentry Holaday, of Hays, KS); great grandchildren, Alec and Cole Easterday, Xavier Weishapl and Brooke Barnhart; sisters-in-law, Anne Weishapl, Berdine Simminger and Sandy Weishapl; close friend Eugene Horinek and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
