Condolence From: Pam Massey
Condolence: I was fortunate to work with Barb when I worked at the Haskell County Monitor Chief from Sept 1997 to November 1999, when she was in the position of Editor for Oakley and Haskell County. We developed a really good friendship and I loved working with her. I wish we had kept in better touch but I did hear about her from others that I would occasionally run into. She had the best work ethic and determination to to the best at her job that I have seen. She was very interesting to get to know. We were both dog lovers among other things. She was having some health problems and she always joked that she was healthy until she quit smoking!! We were working together when she lost her precious mom. I am very sad to hear of her passing and would like her family to know they are in my prayers. I know her friends in Oakley will miss her greatly also.

Condolence From: Deb Kohn
Condolence: I am so saddened to hear of Barb's death. Barb was a dedicated woman to both her craft as Oakley Graphic editor and to her community. She will be deeply missed. One summer I had the fortune to do a week internship with Barb while learning about careers available in our community. I developed an admiration for her and the tireless effort she exhibited to publish the Oakley Graphic every week. Eric served with her as an Oakley Ambassador; Barb loved promoting other businesses and planning events with this group. Peace to her family.

Condolence: Myself and another college friend of Barb's left messages on the "share a story" option. In reading these condolences in this section, I don't see the option anywhere for reading the share stories. Some people leaving condolences may enjoy reading our memories of Barb in that section. At least looking now on my cell phone at this site, it isn't visible. Barb was a college cohort of mine in journalism and we had some crazy, wonderful adventures. Those viewing this on regular computers may be able to find the share stories section viewing that way. She was one of a kind and we journalism crazies formed a strong bond during those hectic but carefree from adult worries time.

Condolence From: Oakley Farm and Home Center
Condolence: Our sympathy to Barb’s family. To Nicholas, TJ and Will , she was so proud of you and spoke of you often, and was excited when the great nieces and nephews came along.
She will be missed by our small community in many ways. Barb was always an advocate for our schools and activities. She watched and documented the OHS Plainsmen from the time they were “Little Cheerleaders” all the way to their “Senior Nights” and Graduation. It was always fun to open the paper and see pics of the littlest ones on carnival rides and the older students playing a sport, cheering on the team or receiving a 4-H award.
Wishing her family peace and comfort.
